Wilson Home Trust Grants Information

“All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them.”  Magic Johnson

The Wilson Home Trust is delighted to offer a range of grants that support an initiative, activity or equipment that will enhance the life of a child or young person who has a disability. We also have grants available for the child’s family because we acknowledge the challenges that many families experience.

Please check that the child meets our criteria for a grant.
If you require more information please us.

  • The child or young person is younger than 22 years.
  • The child or young person lives in the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand.
  • The child or young person’s family has a need for financial assistance.

Families will be notified following our monthly meeting to review applications.

The application closing dates for funding rounds for the next two months are

Policy Update

The Committee of Management (COM) approved two amendments to the Wilson Home Trust Grants Policy effective 31 March 2017.

Maximum Grant Allocation

The COM noted that grants range from a few hundred to many thousands of dollars, which indicates the diversity of needs, and services that disabled children require. Although some grants had been higher in the past, the COM agreed that $5,000 would be a reasonable maximum single grant allocation for the future.

Funeral Grants

It was noted that funeral grants have on occasion been approved. The COM noted that the focus of the Trust Deed was on children with disabilities who need care and rehabilitation during their lives. Funeral grants or costs were therefore not considered applicable to the primary purpose of the Trust nor an appropriate category for grant requests, so would no longer be available.

What grant should I apply for?
