St. Leonards Chapel

Seen through the pohutukawas of The Wilson Home Trust site from Lake Road, St. Leonards Chapel is both dramatic and intriguing.

Designed by Haughey & Fox and Partners and built in 1965, The Chapel features a steeply pitched copper roof hovering above the glass side walls. The transparency of the building from its sides allows full engagement with the wonderful trees and neighbouring flower gardens.

Given an Enduring Architecture Award in 2009, its graceful form makes it as relevant today as the day it was completed.

Whether you choose to have your ceremony in The Chapel or hold it in reserve as a ‘wet weather alternative’ for your garden ceremony, this building will not disappoint.

The Chapel has underfloor heating for those cosy winter ceremonies.

The Gardens

The heritage gardens complete with lawn, fountain, sunken garden, rose gardens and petanque court are a picture perfect setting for your ceremony.  Brides walk through beautiful flower gardens to meet their groom and stunning photos can be taken amongst the gardens and surrounding mature trees.

Constantly maintained by a dedicated team of experienced gardeners, the gardens flower throughout most of the year and have the addition of seating, statues and garden features to add interest and variety.
