Challenge Camp Rotary 2008

May 12, 2008 9:00 amtoMay 16, 2008 4:00 pm

Rotary are delighted to confirm that arrangements for Challenge Camp 2008 are well under way.
To refresh the memories of those who have previously been involved and to advise newer members of your organisation. Challenge is a five day residential camp for physically challenged young people.
The age group is 16-24 years, and we draw the “campers” from the Auckland, Northland and the Pacific Islands.

Participants may include those in wheel chairs, those with impaired speech, hearing or sight, or those with muscular and neurological disorders. (The camp is not designed, nor can accommodate intellectually handicapped or physically disabled who are in need of constant attention.)

The Camp promotes personal development and the inter action of youth who share disability problems with the support of mentors (buddies) resourced from the Rotary International Youth Exchange Students.

For some previous attendees Challenge Camp has been a life changing experience resulting from being in an environment which challenges them, emotionally, physically and mentally.

12-16 May 2008. The Venue. Willow Park, Eastern Beach, Auckland.
The cost of sponsoring a physically disadvantaged camper will be covered by your local Rotary Club, as part of their community activities.

A full programme of organised activities, under professional supervision, is planned. Applications are open now and there are only 25 camper places available.

More data including Application Forms are available on the website: www.rotarychallenge.co.nz
or contact your local Rotary Club or Ian Willetts email: ianmwilletts@xtra.co.nz.
